Project WIN is a free home visitation program offered by VNA for families in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties.
Project WIN (Welcoming Infants into Neighborhoods) focuses on providing health education and support to young families who are expecting or have an infant or child under 3 years of age.
When Martika began working with VNA’s Project WIN, her living conditions were less than ideal. She wanted to provide a safe, stable environment for her daughter, but the home she lived in was not conducive for a healthy lifestyle.
Project WIN (Welcoming Infants Into Neighborhoods) focuses on providing health education and support to young families who are expecting or have an infant or child under 3 years of age.
A public health nurse helps identify needs and analyzes access to health care, provides health assessments, and educates on healthcare and child development.
Social workers or parent coaches provide support in developing parenting and self-sufficiency skills, establishing and achieving educational goals, and helping connect families to other community agencies depending on need. Nurses and coaches visit one to two times per month.
Project WIN is a free home visitation program offered by VNA for families in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties.
Outcomes of this program include the reduction and prevention of child abuse, an increase in family involvement and support, an increase of babies born at healthy birth weights, and an increase in the number of fully-immunized infants.
