A Mom Turns Her Life Around with Project WIN

August 2, 2017 | VNA Staff | Story

When Martika began working with VNA’s Project WIN, her living conditions were less than ideal.

She wanted to provide a safe, stable environment for her daughter, but the home she lived in was not conducive for a healthy lifestyle. She also had a history of drug use and encounters with law enforcement.

With the help of Project WIN, she was able to turn her life around.

Martika has used all aspects of Project WIN to accomplish her goals. She has taken advantage of referrals to Legal Aid, therapists, dentists, and housing, employment and educational resources.

She has applied the parenting skills that she’s learned through Project WIN to help both her daughter and her boyfriend’s children, who also live with them. She moved out of the home she was in and continues to maintain a clean, safe home. For more than two years, Martika has maintained steady employment and was recently promoted to a management position.

Martika embraces the process and has learned to set attainable steps toward big goals. Project WIN provided education, resources and support for her to make a better life for her family.

This program is partially funded by Promise Partners.
