VNA Senior Speaker Series Continues September 14

OMAHA, Neb., Aug 18, 2017 – Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is recognized as the leading in-home care provider at the forefront of innovative skilled health services and compassionate caregiving. Celebrating more than 120 years of service in the community, VNA is committed to sharing its expertise by educating the public about the challenges and opportunities available through many programs, including VNA’s popular Senior Speaker Series.

Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) will host the third of its four-part, free Senior Speaker Series on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VNA headquarters, 12565 West Center Road. Following two sold out events, the third workshop of the series is titled “Taking Care of YOU: Suggestions of Self Care during times of Sadness, Loss or Grief” featuring speaker Jayne Gundrum, LMHP of VNA.

Those attending Gundrum’s presentation will be able to:

  • Identify different types of losses
  • Explain the grief journey
  • Identify physical symptoms of grief and suggestions for self-care
  • Identify emotional reactions to loss and suggestions for self-care
  • Identify mental/behavioral reactions to grief and discuss suggestions for self-care

VNA’s Senior Speaker Series will continue on November 9 about “Getting the Most from Your Medicare Hospice Benefit” at VNA Headquarters.

VNA’s four-part Senior Speaker Series is free and open to the public. The series informs and educates seniors, caregivers and health care professionals about how seniors can maintain their independence while remaining safe at home.
