February 26, 2018 | VNA Staff | Press Releases

OMAHA – Methodist Hospital, a long-time provider of home health and hospice care in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa, will close its program in March and has named Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) as their preferred provider of home health care services in the region.

“The Home Health and Hospice program has been an integral part of Methodist Health System for many years,” said Steve Goeser, president and CEO of Methodist Health System. “We have provided a valuable service to patients and families, allowing us to extend the Meaning of Care beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics. We have appreciated a strong relationship with VNA since 2000 when they became our preferred provider for the Medicare patients we serve and we look forward to this continued collaboration.”

VNA, accredited by the Joint Commission, is a regional leader in the home health care services industry. Focused on delivering industry-leading outcomes and compassionate care to their clients, VNA serves more than 1,000 home health, infusion pharmacy and hospice clients across the community per day.

“VNA is proud of our long-standing relationship with Methodist,” said James Summerfelt, president and CEO of VNA. “With VNA, patients will continue to receive the same high-quality care to which they have become accustomed. We welcome Methodist staff as part of the VNA family and look forward to working alongside them.”

Current employees of the Methodist Home Health and Hospice program will be offered employment opportunities with VNA or Methodist if interested. Patient transition will occur over the coming weeks, with Methodist staff assisting in the care transition process.

“The care and well-being of our patients is vitally important to us as we make this transition,” Goeser said. “We will work collaboratively with VNA to shift patients as immediately as possible. As always, patients will continue to have a choice in their home care provider.”

The Methodist and VNA relationship will continue to thrive as two Methodist administrators remain on the VNA Board of Directors, leading their team of more than 400 healthcare professionals and caregivers.

Methodist’s relationship with Hospice House – The Josie Harper Residence will not be impacted by the transition. The Hospice House is a long-standing partnership between Methodist, VNA, Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health.
